Background for War – 1939 TIME Magazine WWII Vintage Reprint w/Subscription Card

Published in 1939 by the editors of TIME, Background for War is a 39-page complimentary reprint compiling articles from the magazine’s May through August issues. Designed to provide historical context for the escalating global tensions, this special edition was distributed to subscribers in the months leading up to World War II. Included are selections from May 1, May 22, June 12, June 26, August 14, and August 28, offering a journalistic snapshot of the pre-war climate. The original cardboard subscription card remains intact. This copy shows signs of age: a tear at the top of the spine, a one-inch tear on the front cover, wrinkling and discoloration on the back corner. Despite wear, it remains a compelling artifact of wartime media and public engagement.
